Windows Operating System is one of the most widely used Operating System globally. Among the various versions of Windows Operating System, it is the Windows XP which has been more widely used in recent times. The popularity of Windows XP is due to its interactive user-interface that is easy to use than other operating systems.

If you have lost your important files from Windows XP Operating system, which have accidental deleted from your computer, you can often successfully recover deleted files from your computer.

When a file is deleted it moves to the Recycle Bin, which can be easily recovered from Recycle Bin using restore option. Supposedly, if the file is deleted using combination of keys “Shift+Delete”, the file does not move to the Recycle Bin, it just bypasses the Recycle Bin and there is complete data loss. The file can no longer be recovered by the Windows XP Operating system.

Once the file is deleted, the content of the file still remains on the drive fairly intact, until the section of the drive is overwritten by another new file. If the file is overwritten, the file gets erased completely with the new file. Hence precaution should be taken to restore the file before you overwrite it. The deleted files can be recovered using Windows XP file recovery software.

Sometimes files are lost due to accidental formatting of the hard drive. For example, if you want to format D drive and by mistakenly you have formatted the E drive, then the entire file present in the E drive is lost and when you check the E drive, it is completely empty. After the formatting is done, you should stop using the E drive and should not save any new file on the drive, as the lost or formatted file will not be overwritten by new data.

If the antivirus is not updated and when you update your antivirus, some of the file gets deleted as the antivirus software marks some of the file as virus and deletes them. Some other factors like virus attack, improper system shut down, power surge, file system corruption, bad sectors in the hard drive etc. may also leads to deletion or loss of files.
